We use bovine collagen peptides. That is collagen made of the skin, bones, and muscles of cows. It sounds weird, but it’s an amazing thing. Bovine collagen is rich in Type 1 and Type 3 collagen, which is also a protein found in the human body; this makes it a perfect match for our bodies.
This is why we love collagen:
Say hell yes to staying stronger for longer and being mobile when you get older.
Note to self: you aren’t just what you munch, but actually how you digest and absorb what you munch. Sometimes we need to help our guts out a little.
We all know how crucial a good night’s sleep is. It’s even as important as what we eat. Well, collagen has been shown to improve quality of sleep. Goodbye brain fog, hello smile, good health and easier morning workouts.
Collagen looks after your skin. It improves moisture, elasticity, tone and vibrancy. The result? Fewer wrinkles, folks! And who doesn’t want that. It also helps to strengthen nails, and add volume to hair.
Collagen is a trooper. It helps us repair and rebuild damaged proteins after tough workouts, which means speedy recoveries and more time to peak.
It also helps with the synthesis of creatine which has shown to improve performance during high intensity exercise.
Oorah likes these benefits and Oorah likes you, that’s why we’ve added collagen to our whole food based protein bars.
Well sort of, but not really. The only thing that’s really ‘natural’ about natural flavour is that the chemicals used to make it, originate from a plant or animal. Artificial flavours can be made with the same chemicals, but it comes from a synthetic source. Both are created by blending a bunch of chemicals together by scientists in a lab. Which is not great.
The thing about natural flavours is that they can consist of up to 50 to 100 ingredients. Now that’s a lot of ingredients for one little flavour and often the big flavour guys won’t disclose this list to you because they want to protect their formulations from copycats. So how do we know what we’re consuming? We don’t! And because we can’t trust it 100%, we don’t use natural flavours in any of our products, ever. Never ever.
You might be thinking, but why, the ingredients come from animals and plants, silly. Our answer: trans fats, nitrates, and high fructose corn syrup also come from plants/animals and are they good for us? No way.
We like good, natural stuff and that’s why Oorah only uses actual whole good food to flavour our protein powders and bars. It’s tastier anyway.
